It is that time of year, time to gear up for the gardening season!
The Norwood Young American Community Garden is open to all NYA residents. The gardens, located on the north side of Oak Grove building, were built in 2012 as part of the community complex, which includes City Hall, Carver County Library and the Senior Apartments. The gardens are made possible by donations from the Norwood Young America West Carver Lions, Central High School, the City, and Carver County Public Health. Water is now conveniently located near the gardens.
Garden plots are available to anyone interested in gardening, and no experience is required. The Community Garden is a great, low-risk way to try out your green thumb. Anything grown is yours to eat! Being a part of the Community Garden is also a great way to get to know other NYA residents and to enjoy healthy, locally grown produce.
There is a $10 fee to cover the expense of watering per garden. There is also a $25 deposit, which is refunded after the garden season or when you no longer want to rent a plot.
If you are interested in a garden plot or have any questions, please feel free to contact Alicia Menzel at 952-467-1800 or email Alicia.”
