City Council
The City of Norwood Young America is a statutory City governed by a five-member Council. The Council is composed of the Mayor and four councilmembers. The positions of the City Council are voted on by the residents of the City.
The City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at City Hall @ 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Planning & Zoning
The Planning Commission is a seven-member commission, which conducts public hearings regarding all planning related activities, including but not limited to, amendments to the zoning ordinance, plat approval, variances, conditional use permits, etc. After conducting a public hearing, it is this Commission’s responsibility to make formal recommendations regarding these issues to the City Council.
The Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of each month at City Hall @ 6 p.m.

Economic Development Commission
This Commission advises the City Council on issues concerning commercial and industrial development within the City. The Economic Development Commission is a nine-member commission composed of two City Council members, one Planning Commission member, and five members from the local community representing local businesses and industries. The Commission also assists the City in the preparation of marketing plans, programs, and strategies.
The Economic Development Commission meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Parks & Recreation Commission
This Commission is an advisory agency for the City of Norwood Young America on such issues as park and recreational planning and park maintenance. The Parks and Recreation Commission is a seven-member body composed of one City Council member, one Planning Commission member, one representative from School District 108, and four members from the local community.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at City Hall @ 5:30 p.m.

Senior Advisory Commission
A Senior Advisory Committee has been established for the purpose of providing senior citizens an opportunity to effectively communicate the social, economic, recreational, cultural, and personal needs of seniors in the City of Norwood Young America. The committee is advisory only and will make recommendations to the City Council for the establishment and/or funding of various programs and services needed by the senior population. Additionally, the committee will also promote a public understanding of both the needs and the many contributions made by older citizens.
The Committee meets the third Thursday of every month at 9 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
